Dr. Erin Langwith BSc., DVM

Dr. Erin Langwith was born and raised on Vancouver Island.  She graduated from the University of Victoria in 2007 with a Bsc. Biology with distinction. From there she went on to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian. In 2011, she graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). Erin returned to Vancouver Island and began work as an emergency veterinarian.

After several years in emergency practice, Erin realized there was a shift in the veterinary client relationship. Fifteen minute appointments leave little time to take a complete history, discuss owners concerns and perform a physical exam (never mind performing any diagnostics or discussing treatment plans)! Long gone were the days of James Herriot that Dr. Langwith grew up idealizing. And such, her housecall practice, Haven Veterinary Services was formed in 2015.

In her spare time, Erin is a busy wife and mom. She loves the outdoors, gardening, yoga or just hunkering down at home with a good movie or book. Erin believes strongly in supporting local animal rescue groups.

Dr. Sandie Landa BA, DVM

Dr. Sandie Landa was born, raised and schooled in the cold Canadian prairies. She spent 10 years furthering her post secondary education at various universities in Winnipeg, MB; Perpignan, France and Saskatoon, SK. She received her Bachelor of Arts, has 3 years towards a Bachelor of Agriculture and graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Saskatchewan in 1997.

Upon her final graduation she headed west towards warmer climates and settled in Nanaimo where she has practiced for the past 19 years. She has worked at several hospitals around Vancouver Island as a locum, but the majority of her time has been spent working in Qualicum Beach at Lighthouse Veterinary Hospital.

After having met Dr. Erin Langwith, they decided to embark on a new adventure and Harbour City Animal Hospital in Nanaimo was created. In addition to being a veterinarian, she shares her home with a rambunctious Golden Retriever named Zephyr and Romeo a crazy kitten who believes he is a dog. She has 2 boys who live either at the hockey arena or at the lacrosse box (depending on the season), and a husband who patiently supports the whole menagerie.
